With the aim of promoting adoptions, it will take place on Saturday, January 30 through BIOPARC Valencia's social networks, Facebook at 10 a.m. and Instagram at 10:30 a.m.
This one already traditional solidarity event, which for years has brought together hundreds of families interested in offering a new home to abandoned dogs, is once again adapting to this new situation and will be held virtually. The measures generated by COVID-19 and the importance of health and safety prevailing above all have motivated that, as already happened in May, social networks become that “public square”, that virtual meeting point between dogs and people.
The two organizations committed to animal welfare continue to hold this event to denounce the current situation of animal abandonment and value adoption as the most supportive and beneficial option for society, since many wonderful dogs are waiting for a home.
This crisis, which continues to affect the entire society, has also led to a worsening of the problem of dog abandonment. This scourge that the 183.000 dogs abandoned in 2019 according to the Affinity Foundation, has worsened since the beginning of the de-escalation with an increase of 25%, according to the Royal Canine Society of Spain (RSCE). It seems that this reprehensible behavior may become an endemic evil in our country, which continues to be at the head of Europe. Thus It is more necessary than ever to raise awareness and mobilize to bravely face this situation, to denounce abandonments, motivate a change in attitude towards adoption versus purchase and call for responsibility so that a dog is not incorporated into the home as an object of temporary entertainment.
With this purpose and with the same impetus from the beginning, two entities committed to animal welfare, AUPA (Adopt an Abandoned Dog) and BIOPARC Valencia, launch the 17th edition of the Dog Adoption Solidarity Parade. The event, which will be held in virtual format, will take place next Saturday, January 30 through BIOPARC's social networks. The hashtag will be #DesfileAupa17 and it will be broadcast live on Facebook at 10 a.m. and Instagram at 10:30 a.m.
In this meeting we can know some stories like Nior's, a beautiful 19-month-old male who suffered the intense pain of having his ears amputated and later being cruelly abandoned tied to a tree in the mountains. Wave of Mia, the protagonist of this edition's poster, an imposing and protective 7-year-old female who loves to show her affection to people. Dozens of dogs to bring us closer to the dog resilience that keeps them fun, playful and willing to give us humans a second chance who treat them so badly, eager to give us their love and fidelity and in need of our care and affection.
