The bird and mammal exhibition offers new content and new summer hours until August 24.

Friday, July 11, 2014.- These months the educational exhibition of BIOPARC Valencia, "The circle of life", presents important news
One of them is the schedules that now in July and until August 24 They offer us in the park's AMPHITHEATRE an impressive presentation of mammals and birds, which recreates the survival strategies of different species in the African savanna, at 16,30:19,30 p.m. and at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m..
The other, its content has incorporated a demonstration of the training of some of the animals involved, explaining the importance of these exercises for veterinary care and which has aroused great interest among visitors.
The BIOPARC educational exhibit is the only place where truly complex scenes of “wild nature” can be seen. The important role of scavengers as an effective “cleaning” system for natural spaces is explained, essential to avoid pests and diseases.

We can appreciate the hierarchy with which these animals intervene: the first to reach the carrion is the white-headed vulture, the lightest of the large African vultures, which therefore must feed before the competition becomes strong. Then hooded vultures appear, with thin and weak beaks, which depend on the white-backed vultures that join next and break the skin with their strong beak, allowing the others to access its interior. The smell of carrion, however, attracts another diner who approaches on foot: the black-backed jackal. This unique scene shows us the importance of the so-called “scavengers” in the cycle of life, as well as the dependence between different species and can only be seen at BIOPARC Valencia.
Another new scenery revolves around a plaster replica of an ostrich egg: A damaged egg has been abandoned and a clever piebald crow tries to crack the hard shell without success. His attempt serves to attract the attention of a ground hornbill, which cracks the egg and feeds on its nutritious contents. When it is satisfied, the crow returns to the egg and now it also feasts.
In this mammals and birds of 16 different species participate in the exhibition. Among others, the red potamoqueros, eagles, cranes, owls and porcupines stand out. The final touch of the exhibition is a spectacular flight scene with storks by Abdim and marabou Which, with a majestic flight and its impressive wingspan of up to 4 meters are the true giants of the sky.
It is because of this flight and wingspan that this animal was chosen to be the carrier of a video camera that could show from the sky the exhibition. It is impressive to see the resulting images because they show us a new vision of BIOPARC, “from MARABU's view”.
