The “baby” was born this Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the outer enclosure a few minutes after the chimpanzees left their indoor area, where they spend the night. Still sex is unknown, presents a good aspect and seems very well formed and developed. During the day of birth, BIOPARC visitors were surprised to clearly see the mother carefully holding the calf, still with the umbilical cord and placenta. And in these first hours the baby has already been seen suckling, which is sign of a favorable evolution of both. As always, the protocol is to guarantee maximum well-being and these first days the technical team extremes its vigilance and care, so free access to the interior area is maintained especially due to the heat and the tranquility of mother and calf. Otherwise the behavior of the group is calm and they are very curious about the arrival of their new member.

The “Valencian group” It is made up A male 30 years old, Moreno, and five females: the 3 sisters from BIOPARC Fuengirola, Eva, 23 years old, Natalia, 15 years old, and Noelia, 11 years old, and two others, Malin, 28 years old, and Py, 15 years old, who arrived from Boras Djurpark (Sweden). And it has been the females from Malaga that have given the group two offspring this year, first Natalia in the month of April and now her little sister Noelia.

The parents Both arrived in 2015, Brown, the breeding male, from Parco Natura Viva in Bussolengo (Italy). Noelia was born in October 2007 and was the youngest of her family and, although she was perfectly raised by her expert mother in a very social environment and her behavior has always been very appropriate, she has not seen the upbringing process in other females, except for short experience of her sister Natalia, from what is observed in her first-time behavior.
