- Seven locations in Spain, among which is Bioparc Valencia.
Valencia May 21, 2014. Today, on May 21, 1992, the Habitats Directive was approved, the great European standard that, together with the Birds Directive, has allowed the protection of the spaces that make up the Natura 2000.

That is why today we commemorate the “European Day of the Natura 2000 Network”. This year it is celebrated in collaboration with SEO/BirdLife and the EFE Agency and a selection of locations from 18 European countries. in the case of Spain 7 places have been chosen: Cáceres, Madrid, the Sierra de Guadarrama, Barcelona, Córdoba, Tenerife and Valencia. And in this last city, BIOPARC Valencia has been the chosen place.
The chosen motto has been: “The simple flap of a butterfly's wings can change the world” and the campaign is based on the realization of such a simple gesture how to send a photo making the butterfly with your hands. With the contribution of citizens, a conservation project will be carried out in Doñana, one of the most emblematic Natura 2000 Network spaces in Europe.
At Bioparc Valencia many visitors have participated and at half-day a statement was read to the people gathered in the amphitheater before the educational bird exhibition, while a photo was taken of all attendees.
Bioparc, as a platform for environmental awareness, thus contributes to raising awareness of the Natura2000 Network, since according to data, 85% of the Spanish population has not heard of it, nor does it know its ecological, social and economic importance.
