BIOPARC Valencia celebrates Mother's Day with a call to take care of "Mother Nature"

In spring, animal mothers are very present in nature with their numerous births and the park wants to remember them when people celebrate “Mother's Day” by sharing beautiful and tender images as a message of hope.

Tomorrow marks Mother's Day and this 2020 we will do it in a different way than other years. Many people will not be able to share the celebration physically with them, with kisses and hugs. But we are in a time of change that is teaching us to value what really matters and, sometimes, we almost forgot. Whether we are near or far, it is time to congratulate and thank the love, sacrifice, dedication and pampering of the one who gave life to each of us; and from the one who gave it to us all, Mother Nature. And it is time to take care of them, to reflect on their well-being and changing our priorities and behaviors.

BIOPARC Valencia also wants to send a message of hope and highlight the role of animal mothers who live in the park and that these days, so difficult for everyone, have brought great joy to the human team that continues to work on its care. The wonderful images of very important births of critically endangered species such as the eastern bongo or the Mhorr gazelle.

Others are less threatening but remind us of the importance of preserving biodiversity, such as Kirk's dik dik or the striped mongooses, which have just had a new litter, being the fourth species to bring new life during the state of alarm and that continues to remind us of the need to stop the destruction of the environment.

The best gift to all mothers is a change in behavior to care for and preserve life on our planet.

We are in a moment of global change that we must take advantage of to give the opportunity for nature to regenerate, to opt for sustainable development, to conserve biodiversity and to understand that our health depends, to a large extent, on the health of the planet. The current health crisis has revealed our fragility and shows us which path we must choose, thinking about our present and the future of the following generations. In this sense, the best gift we can give to all mothers is to offer a hopeful future and that requires a change in behavior to care and preserve life on our planet. Let's do it and congratulate Mother Nature too.
