Today is commemorated World Wetlands Day to invoke their essential role in our planet and BIOPARC Valencia, in its commitment to the conservation of the environment and biodiversity, offers the opportunity to contemplate the recreation of the ecosystems of the great African lakes.
Every February 2 since 1997 the World Wetlands Day to commemorate the signing of the Convention on their protection in Ramsar (Iran, 1971) and each year a motto is chosen for this anniversary, this time it is "Revitalize and restore degraded wetlands."

Wetlands are vital for biodiversity, the environment and the planet and represent an incalculable heritage. value for all humanity. They can be fresh or salt water; natural resources such as marshes, mangroves, lakes, rivers, etc. or artificial, such as reservoirs, salt pans or ponds. In days like today, at a time when climate change is considered the greatest challenge facing humanity, it is essential to remember that they are the most effective carbon sinks and that they are disappearing three times faster than forests, which that seriously compromises the well-being of the planet and its inhabitants.
This first weekend of the 15th Anniversary you can take advantage of the promotion at the entrance and the Annual Pass B! and enjoy special activities on the occasion of World Wetlands Day.
BIOPARC's objective is the protection of nature and this commitment implies, in addition to the conservation of endangered species, awareness and mobilization of society. In this sense, some of the most beautiful and threatened landscapes are shown and great importance is given to the wetlands, present along the different routes. Especially relevant is the recreation of the ecosystems of the great African lakes in the impressive Kitum cave, where you can contemplate the the only underwater view of the hippopotamus in Spain.

Among school groups, the proposal is very successful “Trip to the wetlands”, where they discover the value of the Albufera on an instructive boat ride. And to celebrate this World Day, among the free activities this Saturday takes center stage “Let's save the wetland”, a special enrichment with the impressive hippos and a gymkhana aimed at girls and boys from 5 to 12 years old. And on the weekend “Los Viajes de Amboselli” will focus on other of the “giants” of these habitats, crocodiles.

Throughout the month of February, BIOPARC is celebrating its Anniversary to celebrate “15 years of love for nature”. And it has launched the “with cause” promotion that offers General online admission for €20+€1 by making the purchase at least the day before the visit; and the Annual Pass B! at a single price of €50+€1.
