BIOPARC Valencia “listens to the voices of the youngest” on World Wildlife Day

March 3 is World Nature Day (World Wildlife Day) and young people from different Valencian schools celebrate it at BIOPARC.

Today is World Wildlife Day. Its objective is to make us aware of the beauty and variety of flora and fauna. Also raise awareness about the benefits that conservation of all this diversity of life has for all humanity. But, in addition, it is intended to make an urgent call to combat the attacks suffered by nature and its not only environmental, but also economic and social repercussions.

This celebration has been promoted by the UN. It aims to especially encourage the participation of States, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, civil society and all people in general. Each year a specific theme is chosen and 2017 has been “Let's listen to the voices of young people.” Ago special emphasis on the empowerment of youth by involving them in the conservation of biodiversity.

BIOPARC celebrates World Wildlife Day.

BIOPARC Valencia wanted to join this initiative and share this celebration with around 500 schoolchildren from various Valencian schools. Their day consisted of taking a guided tour of the park with the educators who have dedicated special attention to Promote the participation of younger people in providing solutions. And in instilling need for a common commitment to the preservation of nature. To do this, on a mural specially placed for this day, the students have written messages about how they would get involved in the protection of the environment. And with them they have forming together a big heart that reflects their love for nature and their responsibility in defending it.

The secretariat of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), with 183 member States, remains one of the world's most powerful tools for biodiversity conservation through the regulation of trade in wild fauna and flora. And together with the UN they have been the precursors of this world day.
