Last Wednesday, May 22, was the International Day for Biological Diversity. Tomorrow, May 25, is Africa Day. The zoological institution unites the celebration of these two days to highlight the alarming situation in which many African species find themselves. Furthermore, hand in hand with the SEO BirdLife, we will know the importance of urban birds.

Friday, May 24, 2013. This weekend Bioparc Valencia commemorates 2 international milestones related to nature conservation. On the one hand, the International Day of Biological Diversity (May 22), proclaimed by the United Nations to promote greater knowledge about biodiversity. And, on the other hand, the Africa Day (May 25), a great occasion to remember the importance and current situation of this beautiful continent.
Bioparc Valencia, a zoo that reproduces African habitats, will develop this Saturday a special program of training and entertainment activities aimed at all visitors to highlight the worrying situation of certain species. Especially those that are threatened and where the BIOPARC Foundation is carrying out conservation projects:
- Reintroduction of Drill (Mandrillus leucophaeus) with the DRIL project, in collaboration with Pandrillus and Rettet den Drill Foundations.
- Conservation of White-naped Mangabey (Cercocebus atys lunulatus) And Rolloway Cercopiteco (Cercopithecus diana roloway) with the WAPCA Project (West African Primate Conservation Action).
- Research and conservation of Pygmy Hippopotamus (Choeropsis liberiensis) with the IBREAM Project (Institute for Breeding Rare and Endangered African Mammals).
- Conservation of Western Cross River Gorilla (Gorilla gorilla diehli) and forestry research with the EBO project (Ebo Forest Research Project), in collaboration with the San Diego Zoo Foundation.
- Conservation of West African Chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes verus) in Senegal and Guinea and sustainable management of agroforestry and tourism resources, through the DINDÉFÉLO Project, in collaboration with the Jane Goodall Institute Spain.

CAMPAIGN: YOUR 10 WISHES FOR HOPE: “URBAN BIRDS”

El Sunday the 26th, Another special day will be held as part of the annual awareness campaign "Your 10 wishes for Hope". On this occasion, Bioparc Valencia looks to the sky to focus on the urban birds.
In addition to the park's activities and crafts, members of Bird Life SEO (Spanish Society of Ornithology; pioneer organization for the conservation of nature and biodiversity in Spain) will give a workshop called “The birds of your city”, where the public will learn the meaning of bird ringing and get up close and personal with some of these animals that live in the Valencian Community.
