The mother, Nalani, 10 years old, arrived from Hannover (Germany) in 2014 as part of an important conservation program for this emblematic species to join the breeding group of Mambie, the “silverback” male.
Today around 13:30 p.m. The second Valencian gorilla has been born in BIOPARC. The birth has developed completely naturally in public view and the behavior of both the female and her group is absolutely normal. The mother's behavior is exemplary and, as usual, she quickly ate the placenta and began to clean, delicately examine and pamper the calf that still remains with the umbilical cord until it dries. All this has not prevented the young and first-time mother from surprising visitors by doing somersaults of joy, of course, carefully protecting the baby from her.
The birth has been witnessed by numerous visitors to the park who showed their surprise and emotion and several people have been able to record these first moments of wildlife, including a man from Barcelona and a woman from Rome.

The shelters have quickly been conditioned and access has been given to both the interior and exterior so that the group can freely decide how and where to stay. On several occasions the mother has gone out to the outdoor area where she has been seen comfortable and relaxed, always carefully holding the little one. Now the role of her caretakers is to maintain vigilance and let nature take its course, providing the best conditions for it.
In BIOPARC there is also a group of “single males” made up of 3 individuals, an older adult, Jitu (1983) who arrived in 2008 from Blackpool Zoo (England), and two youngsters Thomas (2002) and Kabuli (2004) who came in 2009. from Rotterdam (Holland) and Frankfurt (Germany) respectively.
