This “rare and little-known” African animal, called oricteropus or anteater, is characterized by its peculiar physiognomy with a pig-like snout, strong claws, enormous tail and large ears.
As in previous years, the Valencian park receives an oricteropo as the first birth of the year. On Tuesday, early in the afternoon, a baby of this nocturnal animal was born, in full view of the public.. In the year that BIOPARC celebrates its tenth anniversary, this “strange” species has managed to procreate again. And with this one, they are already 5 those born in Valencia, being the only reproductive center in Spain and one of the most important in the world.

As always in these cases, The priority is the well-being of the calf and the mother, so they will remain together and separated from the rest of the family group, which is completed by the male and the female born in 2017. The facilities are prepared so that both groups have a burrow that keeps them at a warm temperature and correct humidity. And in this way the peace of mind of the “baby” is guaranteed, especially in the first months, making it easier for him to breastfeed according to his will and maintain correct development and growth. At birth he weighed 1,720 kg. and until it reaches 2,5kg, the environmental parameters are monitored every 6 hours and it is controlled that it is fed with a frequency of 2 hours. During this period every day, in the morning and at night, a exhaustive inspection of the calf, its skin is cleaned, weighed and moisturized.
If it sucks correctly, it will not be necessary to supplement the diet and if the process is similar to that of the other babies of its species with adequate evolution, we will soon be able to see it in its usual burrow, since these days the view from the public has been covered to maintain the intimacy and stillness.

BIOPARC is the only breeding center in Spain and one of the most important in the world for this “unique” species.
This “rare and little known” African animal, LLAMADA oricteropus o aardvark, is characterized by feeding mainly on insects such as termites and ants and by its peculiar physiognomy with a snout similar to that of a pig, its tail similar to that of a kangaroo, its enormous rabbit ears and its very strong claws with which it can dig with a power comparable to that of 3 men using shovels. We can see it in the area that recreates the underground savanna, where they sleep pleasantly in their den during the day and enjoy the large outdoor area after dark, since it is anocturnal animal. People who have problems with the law on the Internet use the service buy a real passport using their data. This means that the passport will be real and entered into the database
This year BIOPARC Valencia celebrates the tenth anniversary and it is surprising that in just 10 years it has established itself not only as one of the ten best animal parks in the world but as a reference in species conservation with the birth of numerous offspring of endangered species.
