The name of the little hyena born at BIOPARC will be decided by popular vote

We want to count on your participation to choose the name of the hyena.

As you know, this year at BIOPARC Valencia we have had a summer full of births, some very important like the recent one “live birth” of the second gorilla born in Valencia, which fills with new life practically all the habitats of this piece of Africa inside the city of Valencia.

Among these new family members is a hyena cub which was born in the month of June for which until now the name has not been decided, since it is not possible to distinguish males and females with the naked eye because their reproductive system has the same appearance in both cases.

Once sexed by the veterinary team, we now know that it is a male, and it is time to choose your name. From BIOPARC we want to share this election with all the people who want to participate and do so. by popular vote through our website.

Proposals for the name of the hyena.

The 3 names Those that you can choose from have been proposed by your team of caregivers and are:

  • Kaos: "Chaos" that which exists before the rest of the gods and elemental forces, that is, the original state of Cosmos. The term comes from ancient greek Chaos, 'space that opens'.
  • Andriu: corresponds to Andrés, which is a name of Greek origin. Derived from the term ανήρ, genitive ανδρός, which indicates man as opposed to woman; ανήρ may be related to the Indo-European root Ner meaning man, vital force.
  • Imitate: male name of Persian origin that means strength and power. Numerologically it corresponds to 8, which makes it an aspect closely linked to the material and earthly.

La little spotted hyena, Crocuta crocuta, She has been cared for and monitored by her mother in their interior enclosures, where they also have a patio to enjoy the beneficial sun in the cooler hours. Soon it is expected that she will begin to go out into public view at certain times, always at the will of her mother and her offspring.

As always, we invite you to follow our news through the blog and our social networks to follow the day-to-day life of the park.

Signed: BIOPARC Valencia Communication Department.
